ETFO Examines Teacher Working Conditions
In 2006, ETFO published the results of a literature review conducted by Dr. Kenneth Leithwood (OISE/UT) on working conditions - Teacher Working Conditions That Matter: Evidence for Change (PDF Version | Purchase from shopETFO). This monograph lays out a compelling case of why teacher working conditions matter for student learning and for advancing our educational goals for Ontario.
In 2007, ETFO hosted an international symposium to further explore the issues of teacher working conditions. It drew on some leading thinking about teacher learning, school leadership, and the impact of working conditions on student learning. It was two days packed with stimulation.

This interactive site contains the keynote speeches from the symposium as streaming videos. After viewing the videos, you can reflect on what you’ve heard and engage in online dialogue with colleagues from across the province on the importance of elementary working—and learning—conditions. All discussions will be moderated by ETFO Research Officer, Pat McAdie.
